Roots Rock Reggae - Thursday 8:00 to 10:00 pm

Straight from Ganja Mountain, this show seeks to connect the Cross-cultural Revolution with reggae music coming straight from Jamaica. Chef Ra started Roots, Rock, Reggae with a song by Bob Marley and The Wailers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMBlMMGxfpw) back in the days when WEFT broadcast on cable TV prior to hitting the FM airwaves on September 26, 1981. Ra single-handedly brought Reggae music to the cornfields and prairies of East Central Illinois, playing roots, rock steady, dance hall, dub, Bob and Rita Marley and The Wailers, Peter Tosh, Steel Pulse, Third World, The Gladiators, Lee Scratch Perry, and more. Through the longest running show on WEFT 90.1FM, his legacy lives on after his earthly passing to the Spirit of Jah and the Liberated Zone on December 26, 2006.

Hosted by Vicki & Mark Niswander, WEFT Weekender airs from WEFT Community Radio in Champaign Illinois every Friday morning from 6-9 AM, with a focus on local music, people and events.

Womyn Making Waves - Sunday 1:00 to 3:00 pm

Started in 1981, Womyn Making Waves is one of the oldest programs on WEFT. The show is hosted by a collective; a group of women dedicated to bringing independent music, news, poetry, and performance to women in East Central Illinois via 90.1 FM and elsewhere in the world via our live internet streaming service. The show features live interviews and performances by local women as well recordings from women around the world.
