December 2015 shows

  • December 26, 2015 - We welcome two phone-in guests on this 90-minute Double Feature edition of the World Labor Hour. Sarah Morken from the Tacoma $15 NOW Campaign calls in 30 minutes into the program. An hour into the program, Paul Simons of the Rojava Solidarity Network in NYC calls into the program to talk about the revolutionary region of Rojava Kurdistan, located in northern Syria. Rojava is a Worker controlled democratic confederation with Worker cooperatives. Woman not only have equal rights but are also in many of the military and governance leadership positions.   • December 19, 2015 - Local stories include Champaign Police abuse videos, regional stories include Kohler employess in Wisconsin, national stories include continued water shut offs in Detriot.   • December 12, 2015 - Our in-studio guest is Nancy Dietrich, she joins us for a discussion of Naomi Klein's book, "This Changes Everything, Capitalism vs. The Climate". Other topics include Champaign Police abuse videos and the decreasing numbers of America's middle class.
  • December 5, 2015 - This week's show is a free form discussion of labor news and what's happening in today's society. Without a guest the hosts have a chance to stretch out and give their views on a variety of topics. A lively show!

  • November 14, 2015 - Our in-studio guest is Andrew Scheinman, attorney from Champaign-Urbana discussing the Steven Salaita settlement with the U. of I. Our phone-in guest is Michael Garcia, General Executive Board member of the Industrial Workers of the World.
  • November 7, 2015 - Our phone-in guest is Andrea Merida, National Co-Chair of the Green Party and Co-Chair of the Green Party of Colorado. She suggests some alternatives to our current political system and the corporate Democrats and Republicans in office. (extended length 1:04:10)
